April Holmes, a crepe stall owner from the Dorset town, who first appeared on Married at First Sight UK (MAFS UK) as an ‘intruder’ bride earlier this month, is suffering some compatibility issues with her new husband Leo.
Ahead of their wedding, Leo Stanley, 31, a graphic designer from Chichester, said he was looking for someone different to the “world of Kardashians” he’s living in. And April, also 31, said she was keen to not live life the conventional way.
The pair instantly hit it off upon meeting at the altar, finding that they had a lot in common and also a spark between them and many viewers remarked at the time they were the best match in MAFS UK history.
April was delighted to find that her new husband had a mullet hairstyle and Leo told April: “I don’t think it really could have gone better. I definitely felt a spark with you.”
Speaking to her friend during the wedding reception, April said: “I think the experts have just written down what I wanted and told him to act,” with Leo adding: “The feeling is mutual darling.”
But problems first started surfacing on their honeymoon in Levi, Finland, during which they skied, went on a helicopter ride, fed reindeers and saw the Northern Lights.
April later admitted to the cameras that she was feeling frustrated that she couldn’t have ‘a deep conversation’ with Leo.
In their first commitment ceremony in which the show’s couples talk about how their marriages are going with relationship experts, the pair said ‘there’s so many green flags’ but April expressed concerns about the relationship.
Admitting they didn’t have a deeper connection yet, expert Mel advised the pair to have more conversations, urging Leo to ask more questions to his wife.

The couple took the advice on board and both chose to stay to work on a deeper connection.
Most recently during the love and hate week the couple were asked to list what they most loved and hated about each other.
Leo wrote on a card that he loved her bottom, a comment that disappointed his wife, while April told Leo ‘You’re not very inquisitive’.
Married at First Sight UK is on E4 at 9pm from Sunday to Wednesday.
