Samsung’s One UI 8 rollout appears to have run into a major snag. The company has suddenly paused the update for multiple devices, hinting at unexpected issues or stability concerns. The Galaxy S23 series is the latest to be affected, joining the Galaxy S24, S22, and other models that previously saw their updates pulled.
One UI 8 rollout halted temporarily for the Galaxy S23 series
Based on Android 16, One UI 8 brings a refined user experience to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. It introduces a sleeker, more intuitive design, with updated icons, smoother animations, and enhanced system-wide dark mode. Key upgrades include improved multitasking, smarter AI-driven features, and better integration with Samsung’s ecosystem, including SmartThings, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Buds.
Samsung began the stable One UI 8 rollout in mid-September and has already updated more than 60 Galaxy models. For most part, it has been smooth sailing. However, the company appears to have discovered serious bugs in the stable builds for some devices. It has abruptly halted the One UI 8 rollout for the follwing models in one or more regions.
Galaxy Z Fold SE — resumed
Galaxy S22 series — partially resumed
Galaxy S24 series — remains paused
Galaxy M53 — remains paused
Galaxy S23 series — remains paused
This means Galaxy S24, S23, and M53 users who haven’t already updated to One UI 8 won’t see the OTA notification until Samsung resumes distribution. As of this writing, the update hasn’t been pulled from its servers globally, but it’s safer to avoid installing the latest release. Samsung should push a new build after addressing the underlying issues.
Meanwhile, if you’ve already installed the One UI 8 update, there’s no need to panic. The build doesn’t appear to cause critical problems, as there aren’t any widespread reports yet. Samsung typically resolves such rollout issues quickly, often within a few days. We will let you know when the rollout is resumed for the Galaxy S24, S23, and M53.
