Alex Palmer

Only played 24 minutes before coming off with an injury. Had nothing to do in that time. N/A

Ashley Young

Attacked well but was shoved off the ball for Charlton’s first shot on target. Nowhere to be seen for the first and third goals, while the second came down the other side. 4

Dara O’Shea

Inexplicably backed off Sonny Carey for the opener. Didn’t react fast enough for the second or the third. A poor, poor night for the skipper, who looked at sea against Charlton’s attackers. 3

Jacob Greaves

Too loose and sloppy on the ball. Pulled away from Carey for the first and was static for the others. 4

Leif Davis

Pulled apart by Charlton’s right for the second goal and was too busy fouling Lloyd Jones ahead of the third. Offered no attacking threat. 3

Marcelino Nunez

Lively in the first half but nowhere near accurate enough with his shots. His energy totally drained after the break. 5

Jens Cajuste

His calmness turned into lethargy at times. Enjoyed being on the ball in the first half but offered nothing after the break. Ran away from his man ahead of the third goal when he needed to close down the cross. 4

Kasey McAteer

One of his better performances in the first half. Offered more in the first 20 minutes than he had in a Town shirt up to that point. Had a tight goal disallowed for offside and dropped after that. 5

Chuba Akpom

Cracked the crossbar and missed a clear chance from a corner. Was more of a threat today but couldn’t make anything happen. 5

Jack Clarke

The clear stand-out. Made things happen by himself, took on defenders and was really lively, with his dribbling causing loads of problems. Had some good opportunities that he forged himself. 6 (Man of the Match)

Ivan Azon

Ran hard but was a bit off kilter with his team-mates, who couldn’t read his runs. Didn’t have a lot to work with. 5

Christian Walton was thrown in at the deep end after Alex Palmer’s injury (Image: Ross Halls)

Substitute: Christian Walton (24′)

Made a big save to deny Isaac Olaofe. Nothing he could have done about the first but made a mess of the second and was caught out trying to claim the cross for the third. Thrown in at the deep end, but this wasn’t a good night. 4

Substitute: George Hirst (62′)

Fluffed his only chance, which came from Clarke’s cross. Had nothing else to work with and looked lost when heads dropped. 5

Substitute: Jaden Philogene (62′)

Couldn’t get into the game at all. Charlton marked him tight and he had no answers. 5

Substitute: Ben Johnson (75′)

Came on when the game was dead, so there was nothing for him to work with. 5

Substitute: Jack Taylor (75′)

Added a bit of spark and drive, but it was too little, too late. 5
