Catalans Dragons

Catalans Dragons target Solomona Faataape looks set to leave NRL club Wests Tigers to take up a deal in Super League.  That’s according to Australian outlet Zero Tackle, who claim the centre will joining the Perpignan outfit ahead of the 2026 season.

Faataape has been with the Tigers for two years and in that time he has made 19 first grade appearances under Benji Marshall. This season has been a frustrating one, though, with the 24-year-old getting just two run outs in the NRL and the signing of Taylan May appears to have pushed him further down the pecking order in recent weeks.

As such, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Faataape will leave Wests at the end of the season and his agent Kif Chowdhury has confirmed as much. Chowdhury has also hinted that a deal elsewhere has been agreed with a rather large hint about Super League and Catalans being his destination.

NRL agent confirms Solomona Faataape next steps

“We’re beyond grateful for the opportunity that the West Tigers have provided for Solomona Faataape,” his manager said, per Zero Tackle.

“The belief and faith shown by Benji Marshall and Shane Richardson will never be forgotten by the Faataape family.

“We’ve been working through our options and I think we’ve finalized a destination. Our priority is to give Sol a genuine platform to showcase his talent whilst continuing to develop his game as the NRL expansion teams near entry”.

He added: “A move to the Super League for a year or two would strongly benefit him. I hear the weather is nicer over in the south of France”.

Faataape has been linked with a move to Castleford Tigers, too, but it seems Catalans could be the preferred destination, with the outside back set to follow Toby Sexton to the club. The same publication has also reported Penrith Panthers’ Zac Lipowicz is heading to the Stade Gilbert Brutus, too.
