Aspinall was looking to defend his heavyweight title for the very first time since being promoted to undisputed champion after Jon Jones, who he had pursued for months to try and unify the two championship belts, retired back in June. That left the Briton, finally, in the position where he wanted to be, but that was swiftly nullified on Saturday night when injury stopped his return prematurely.
