Hull FC have opted not to sign Jamaican winger Jack Rampton after he spent the summer on trial at the club. The 24-year-old trained at the Black and Whites for the last few months of the 2025 season, making a try-scoring debut for the club’s reserve side against Hull KR before featuring on loan in the Championship.
In total, Rampton made five appearances for Leeds-based side Hunslet in rugby league’s second tier, scoring three tries. However, Hull FC have made the decision to let the cross-code speedster go.
Rampton made his rugby league international debut on Saturday for Jamaica, lining up on the wing as the Caribbean nation was defeated by France 36-0 in a World Cup play-off in Albi. The result will see France head to the World Cup finals in Australia next year.
Meanwhile, Hull head coach John Cartwright said on Rampton back in June: “He’s got all the skills – it’s just that the game is new to him. We can train him as much as we like – that will help – but the real help will come when we can play him week to week at a decent level. He’s got a basic knowledge – he can catch, pass, and run – it’s just tying that into rugby league – sometimes that can be a bit difficult.”
The winger has a rugby union background, playing in the 7s and 15-man codes of the sport. He featured for Jamaica on the 7s world stage and played at a high standard in the 15-man version of the sport. But given his involvement with the Reggae Warriors, a future in rugby league could still await.
Rampton was the second on-trial winger that played for Hull in 2025, following on from Charlie Robson. The London-born speedster also spent time in the Airlie Birds camp, not to mention a spell with Leigh Leopards, before picking up a deal with London Broncos.
