Marcus Rashford has issued a message after suffering blow during his loan spell with Barcelona. Rashford left Manchester United during the summer transfer window to complete a season-long loan move to the La Liga giants.
The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and expressed a desire to leave United once again at the start of pre-season. The summer saw Rashford heavily linked with a permanent move away from United, before the Old Trafford hierarchy reached an agreement for a loan deal with Barcelona.
Since completing a move to Barcelona, Rashford has scored five goals and provided seven assists for the Spanish giants. However, the United loanee was handed a blow over the weekend.
Sunday saw Barcelona lose 2-1 to bitter rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico, and are now five points adrift of the top of the La Liga standings. Rashford provided the assist for Fermin Lopez but could not prevent Barcelona from losing, with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham on target for Madrid.
Hours later, Rashford took to social media to post a message in an effort to encourage his teammates to bounce back from the defeat. “Clearly, not the result that we wanted yesterday. It’s a marathon not a sprint and we will keep fighting,” wrote Rashford in a post to his 21.3 million followers on Instagram.

Barcelona assistant head coach Marcus Sorg said after the defeat: “I think in the end, we made more mistakes than we’re used to. It’s true that our defensive level was very low. In the final third, our penetration power did not allow us to create more chances.”
Rashford’s next opportunity to star for Barcelona will be on Sunday when they will face Elche in La Liga, where they will be looking to close the five-point gap with Madrid.
