United hosted Brighton at Old Trafford and the Red Devils avoided a late scare against the Seagulls on Saturday evening after leading 3-0 in the second half.

Both Matheus Cunha and Casemiro scored in the first half for United before Bryan Mbeumo put the Red Devils 3-0 up in the second half of the Premier League tie.

Brighton fought back and reduced the deficit by two through Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas, but Bryan Mbeumo scored again for United in injury time.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were both standout performers in Manchester United’s 4-2 win over Brighton in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Cunha was finally able to break his goalscoring drought for United after the Brazilian went eight matches across all competitions without finding the back of the net.

Mbeumo, on the other hand, carried on his stunning run of form for United and took his goalscoring exploits to five in 10 matches in all competitions this season.

Gary Neville has now admitted that summer signings Cunha and Mbeumo have become two United players that he simply can’t take his eyes off at the moment.

“The big thing for United is that Cunha and Mbeumo are players who I love watching in a red shirt,” he said on Sky Sports’ The Gary Neville Podcast.

“Are they the best players that will ever wear a red shirt? Are they the best forwards that Manchester United have ever had? That’s still to be seen, but what I like about them is their hunger, their courage to take the ball.

“They’re positive. They do everything, I think, that a Manchester United forward should do.”

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are both showing something special to Man Utd legend Gary Neville

Neville has hailed the transformative impact that Cunha and Mbeumo have offered United manager Ruben Amorim since their respective arrivals in the summer.

The former United captain is fully convinced that the two aforementioned Red Devils players are showing everything that a forward needs at the Premier League club.

“They’ll make mistakes, they’ll give goals away, it’s Cunha’s first goal of the season, so he’s missed a lot of chances, but what I can see is the intent is there to do the right thing every single time,” Neville continued.

The Sky Sports pundit added: “Get on the ball, make runs in behind, take people on, be a threat.

“Make sure that if you lose it five times, you go and get it a sixth time. All those things that I’ve heard all my life on the values of a forward at United.

“Go and try and win your team the game, shoot from anywhere. Whatever it is you think you can see, go and do it. I just think that they do really demonstrate that.”

Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford in July for an initial fee of £65m from Brentford, while the Red Devils signed Cunha in a £62.5m deal from Wolves in June.
