Hollyoaks’ Marie Fielding was rumbled in tonight’s episode as she began to line up her exit from the village. Now that Diane Hutchinson has uncovered her huge secrets, will Marie get her happily-ever-after?
Last week’s 30th anniversary episodes saw a plane plummeting into the village, following a dramatic showdown at Tony and Diane’s wedding reception. The horrific incident left both Marie and Mercedes McQueen trapped under the wreckage, with Tony unsure which of his pregnant former flames to save.

Ultimately, Tony chose to help Marie as she claimed to be going into labour. But after lifting up the rubble, her fake baby bump was revealed. Fortunately for Marie, her secret remained intact as Tony was later hospitalised after being shot.
In the special crossover episode, Marie was seen arriving on Brookside Close, ready to start her new life as “Pauline”. However, her easy exit was derailed tonight when Diane witnessed a conversation between Marie and Brookside’s Billy Corkhill.

With Leela still reeling from Peri’s death, Marie reluctantly informed her that she was moving to Liverpool with Arlo and her ‘unborn baby’. Leela begged her to stay, but Marie was determined to leave before her fake pregnancy was discovered.
On the way to pack up her salon, she was stopped by Billy who asked what she was doing in Chester. As the pair exchanged pleasantries, a nearby Diane overheard Billy calling Marie “Pauline”.

Suspicious Diane questioned her former friend about the interaction, but Marie brushed her off, claiming neither she nor ‘the baby’ needed any more stress. However, the inquisition continued when Diane followed Marie home, determined to find out why she was lying.
Marie, who had carelessly discarded her fake baby bump moments prior, was unable to face Diane. She pretended to feel unwell, but not before Diane noticed the prop lying on the sofa.
With nowhere left to hide, Marie was forced to face the music and own up to her lies. After pocketing a hefty child maintenance sum from Tony, will Marie be able to pay the money back?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
