A Deadpool franchise star has expressed interest in taking on a larger role in Marvel’s next sequel. The actor reflected on their long-running journey with the movies and shared hopes of being more involved in a potential Deadpool 4 following a smaller appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Morena Baccarin wants her role to increase in Deadpool 4
In a recent interview with Variety while promoting CBS’ Sheriff Country, Morena Baccarin discussed her hopes of returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a bigger role in a potential Deadpool 4.
Reflecting on her time as Vanessa Carlysle, she said, “It’s been such a long journey. I can’t [believe] it’s almost 10 years since we shot the first one. I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams that that’s what it would have turned out to be.”
Baccarin added, “We had so much fun shooting it. It was such a fun world. I hope that I get to do more of it and participate a little bit more than the last one. But I understood that it was the bro comedy.” The actress reprised her role in Deadpool & Wolverine, appearing briefly in a reunion scene with Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson.
The 2024 film marked the franchise’s first release under Marvel Studios and became the MCU’s first R-rated installment. Deadpool & Wolverine grossed $1.3 billion worldwide and earned a “certified fresh” 78% critics’ score and 94% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Its consensus read, “Ryan Reynolds makes himself at home in the MCU with acerbic wit while Hugh Jackman provides an Adamantium backbone to proceedings.”
While Deadpool 4 has not been officially announced, Marvel Studios is reportedly developing future installments featuring Reynolds’ character. In the comics, Baccarin’s character, Vanessa, becomes the mutant mercenary Copycat.
With the MCU introducing more mutants ahead of its X-Men reboot, Vanessa’s storyline could expand to explore her shapeshifting abilities and her connection to Deadpool, continuing the arc hinted at in Deadpool 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine.
