Dermot Desmond’s statement against former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been branded as ‘incredible’ by Michael Stewart.

Desmond labelled Rodgers ‘toxic’ as Celtic’s major shareholder eviscerated the former Hoops boss in public on the Hoops’ website.

The statement has caused reverberations across the country as Celtic fans wonder just what is happening at their club right now.

And reacting to Desmond’s attack on Rodgers, Michael Stewart has warned the Celtic supporters that if the club do not get a grip on themselves, they could derail the defence of the title for good.

Celtic currently sit eight points behind Hearts in the league and Stewart has sent a warning after reading Desmond’s statement.

Stewart said on X, “Dermot Desmond statement is quite incredible.

“A club in total turmoil and desperate need of some stability or they could continue to fall further behind.

“Celtic’s new interim manager backed Hearts for the title earlier today.”

Martin O’Neill will, hopefully, bring that much-needed stability to Celtic before the season completely unravels this week with Falkirk and Rangers up next.

Martin O’Neill is crystal clear on his role at Celtic

O’Neill joins Maloney at Celtic as the pair take in the managerial duties on a temporary basis.

And O’Neill couldn’t be much clearer on his short-term role at Celtic when he said, “It’s difficult really to turn down somebody who gave you the job in the first place when he had really some great options a way back 25 years ago.

“So from that viewpoint, maybe by the time that I pulled myself off the floor, I probably thought then maybe I should do it.

“I think they were probably stunned by the news that Brendan left and as a consequence, they maybe might be obviously seeking a permanent manager.

“So this is like a short-term, I’m not going to say a fix, but it’s certainly a short-term fit. Whether it’s a fix or not, it’s another thing.”

“Interim does mean that to me. Absolutely. It’s really as simple as that.”
