The three-member independent inquiry committee that had been investigating fixing issues in the 2024-25 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) conducted its inquiries over the last nine months and submitted the final report to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday.
The report comprises 900 pages, but interestingly, the BCB press release issued on the same day stated that “the BCB will not comment on specific allegations or disclose any details of the report at this stage.”

That raised questions about what the report would achieve in the long term. The Daily Star asked since no names would be made public, whether the BCB risked tarnishing the reputation of players who may not be picked in domestic cricket despite having no involvement in fixing.
In response, BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul reiterated that “ultimately the names will come out.”
The BCB had earlier received an initial document from the inquiry committee, and Bulbul told the media that the board had already begun working based on that preliminary report.
“We received an initial report in September, and today we received a consolidated report of 900 pages, which will not only be useful for the BPL inquiry but has also provided us with some guidelines. Since it’s a large volume, we are working on it, and after receiving the initial document, we had already begun work based on that,” Bulbul told the media yesterday.
The BCB press release also stated that the board had established an independent integrity unit named the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU), which will be headed by an independent chairman.
Bulbul informed that Alex Marshall will serve as the independent chairman of the BCBIU.
“We have named it the BCB Integrity Unit, and one person has been made the head — our independent head, Mr. Alex Marshall, has started his work,” he said.
When asked whether players accused in the report would participate in the upcoming BPL, Bulbul replied, “We are not working directly on this at the moment, and we cannot give instructions. It is completely dependent on the unit.”
