A lot of names are going to be thrown around to be Celtic’s next manager in the coming weeks.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Craig Bellamy’s name has been put on the table, given that the former forward is at the start of his managerial career.

The 46-year-old is the current coach of Wales, but Bellamy’s name was suggested for the Celtic gig hours before Brendan Rodgers’ abrupt exit on Monday evening.

Whilst Rodgers’ resignation was a surprise, and everything that followed. There was already a lot of noise around the champions of Scotland, especially after that Hearts loss.

There was already a negative cloud over Rodgers before he left, because of how poorly the team had been playing and the results this season.

That’s why one Celtic fan told Peter Grant and Barry Ferguson that he wants Bellamy to be the next coach, and the duo sang the praises of the former Liverpool and Manchester City player.

A Celtic fan suggested on Go Radio: “I would bring in Craig Bellamy, personally. Throw his name in there and somebody to go forward with.”

Ferguson: “When you watch him at Wales, and doing his pressers, he speaks very well. Speaks very well.”

Grant: “He has got the team playing on the front foot. I have watched Wales a few times. He is a good kid as well. He is a proper kid. Loves his football.”

Ferguson: “He was a right good player as well.”

Grant: “A terrific player. I can’t believe he has changed so much.”

Bellamy’s record with Wales

If Celtic were to even consider Bellamy, then straight away, they would be in a spot of bother because he is the current coach of Wales.

The 2026 World Cup is around the corner, and Wales are in the last chance saloon to book their ticket to the United States, Mexico and Canada next summer.

If that happens, then you can’t see a world where Bellamy is available, but if Wales don’t qualify, and Celtic haven’t yet appointed anyone, then things could get interesting.
