There is finally some light at the end of the tunnel for Maik Nawrocki.

Nawrocki joined Celtic in 2023, but it seems as though he became one of those ‘club signings’ under Brendan Rodgers, hence why he hardly played.

But as chaos is unfolding at Celtic right now, Nawrocki will have a smile on his face because he has finally played a game for his loan club, Hannover 96.

Celtic loaned out the centre-back in the summer, but it’s taken him until October to make his competitive debut for the German club.

One of the reasons why Nawrocki has hardly played is because of injury; he did feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly and for Hannover’s reserve side.

But over the weekend, it was perfect timing because it was a derby match, Nawrocki started during Hannover’s win over Eintracht Braunschweig, winning 3-0, keeping a clean sheet, and getting an hour under his belt.

The Polish star hadn’t posted on Instagram since moving to the Bundesliga 2 side in July.

But he was quick to do so after his competitive debut, with Benjamin Siegrist delighted by telling the Celtic man he had been ‘waiting a long time’ for this post.

‘Derby winner,’ wrote Nawrocki on Instagram

Siegrist in the comments section of Nawrocki’s post: ‘Been waiting a long time for this post!’

Hannover 96 express their delight for Nawrocki

Good for Nawrocki, and now it will be interesting to see how he fares in the coming weeks and months.

What’s interesting is that Celtic need a centre-back because Cameron Carter-Vickers probably won’t return this season.

So, will the next Celtic manager look to recall Nawrocki? Only time will tell, but until then, he is getting a lot of love at his new club.

‘Strong debut with a perfect finish,’ wrote Hannover 96’s Instagram account. ‘Congratulations, @maik4nawrocki!’
