The soap star spoke to the ECHO about her upcoming stint as Cinderella in the Epstein Theatre

Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn is thrilled to be spending the festive season in Merseyside. The 32-year-old, who shot to stardom as Sinead Tinker in the ITV show, is starring as Cinderella in the pantomime at the Epstein Theatre.

The soap star has previously worked in the region during her stint on Hollyoaks but this will be her first live performance in front of a Merseyside crowd. Speaking to the ECHO, she said: “I’m really excited and intrigued to see what they’re going to be like. 100% there’s going to be heckles but I’m here for it.”

While she has never performed in front of a Liverpool crowd, Katie has many fond memories of visiting the city, as she said: “I love staying in Liverpool. I feel very home here. I’m a northern gal so I just feel very comfortable here.”

The show is on from December 5 to January 4, 2026 and Katie is looking forward to spending an extended time in Merseyside. She added: “I’ve always been dipping in and out so it’ll be nice to spend the festive season here.

“I just love exploring the city. The shopping is brilliant. The hair and make up is brilliant. I just love the vibe. Liverpool is such a good city for music and art so I’m just excited to explore it because I’ll have a longer time here.”

She added: “I’m looking forward to getting along with the cast and bonding. I’m sure they can show me around the sights.”

Katie hails from Rochdale and she said her Christmas Day plans will be back with her family, but stayed tight lipped on her family traditions. She laughed: “We have a lot but I can’t tell you about them.”

The actor is close to her family and is glad her nearest and dearest will be able to see her as Cinderella in the famous Liverpool venue. She added: “My niece is going to be ecstatic when she sees me.

“My niece and nephews can never watch me in anything because it’s only ever 18+. They’re only seven so I’m really excited.”

Katie is currently touring in a production of Murder at Midnight and will resume her performances in the twisted crime caper next year. The show is coming to the New Brighton Floral Pavilion from February 24 to 28, 2026 and Katie is excited for her next chapter.

She said: “Next year I’ll be carrying on with my theatre tour. There’s a few other things in the pipeline, but I can’t say anything sorry.” She laughed: “It’s really boring”

For now, she is looking forward to get glammed up as a princess in the lead role of the Epstein Theatre, where she will star alongside Leanne Campbell and Kevin Duala. She added: “I already do feel like a princess wearing this.

“When I’m not working, I’m not very princess-like so it is nice to get glammed up now and again.” While she is excited for what’s next, she also remembers the role that shot her stardom fondly as she said she will forever treasure the opportunity to play Sinead Tinker in Corrie.

She added: “It’s such a big part of my life that I’ll cherish forever. I grew up on the show so I see it as that chapter of my life where I turned into a woman.

“I’ve still got a lot of close friends there and wish everyone the best. I’ve got a lot of warm, fond memories there. It was a great time of my life and I have no regrets.”
