Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans are convinced they’ve figured out a major plot twist for the crossover episode to air next year.
Ahead of ITV budget cuts next year that will change the broadcasting pattern of the two soaps, Emmerdale and Coronation Street will merge for one night only in a ‘mash-up’ of our two favourite communities.
For the first time in British soap history, the hour-long episode will see characters from both soaps come together in a celebration of the soap genre.
Each soap will then return to its new normal pattern of transmission – 30 minutes each evening – Emmerdale episodes at 8pm, and Coronation Street episodes at 8.30pm on ITV1 and STV.
Corrie’s Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) have been confirmed as the first two characters to be part of the special episode.
Danny himself teased: “I am made up that Aaron is in the Corriedale episode. Originally from Manchester, Coronation Street has always been an iconic show in our house just as much as Emmerdale. So to cross them both over is a great idea.
“The night shoots have been full on with having young kids but a lot of fun and it’s been great working with the Corrie team.”
Apart from that, there’s been no confirmation as to what the plot will be or who the other stars are in the bombshell crossover.

However, that hasn’t stopped fans from guessing what could happen during the episode.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), some viewers theorised that the new Driscoll family in Weatherfield could be linked to Ray and Celia’s drug empire in the Dales.
@swarlarooney wrote: “Right so in Corrie, is Eva’s fella (from hull) asking his son to do a dodgy job handing over money, linked to the drug storyline in Emmerdale where they keep doing jobs in hull or is it just a coincidence”.
Before adding: “Plus him being linked to Dee Dee who leaves about the time of the crossover, met through being his solicitor, she randomly got a scene introducing Lisa and Carla to him in the pub who are also in the crossover, Carla owning pub and Eva’s fella being strapped for cash, interesting”.
Speaking about Ben Driscoll, @wee_westie29 echoed: “He’s clearly involved in the Emmerdale Drug Haul involving Dylan’s trip to Hull that’s been referenced in tonight’s Emmerdale”.
@eternitydropped penned: “The Driscolls in Corrie being from Hull.. Dylan in Emmerdale doing drug drops in Hull… I fear this is no coincidence…”
