An ex-Featherstone Rovers player could soon be making a return to the NRL, after impressing one of Australia’s biggest teams with his recent performances.
Paul Turner joined the Rovers from NRL outfit St George Illawarra ahead of the 2024 season, and was signed as a replacement for newly-named Batley Bulldogs signing, Ben Reynolds.
There, he made 13 appearances for the West Yorkshire club, scoring seven tries.
However, his time at the club was cut short, and he left the club in July of last year, with personal reasons cited as the cause for his exit.
A move back Down Under came next, and more recently he has plied his trade in the Queensland Cup with the Tweed Seagulls.
Tweed are the feeder team for the Manly Sea Eagles, and in his time there has played alongside future Leigh Leopards man Jacob Alick-Wiencke.
Making 15 appearances for the reserve grade outfit, Turner is now set to be offered another chance to play in the NRL again, with one of it’s top clubs looking at signing him.
Grand Final Premiers Brisbane Broncos are said to be that team, with NRL news outlet Zero Tackle reporting Turner is a man of interest at the club.
Whilst there has been no official offer from the Michael McGuire-coached club yet, sources have confirmed to the publication that Brisbane are looking to bring the 25-year-old to the club on a train-and-trial deal, meaning he would spend the pre-season with the club and would have the chance to represent them in any friendlies they have before the 2026 campaign kicks off.
The Broncos have had huge success in bringing players in on a trial deal, with Australian international centre, Gehamat Shibasaki, joining the club that type of contract before going on to represent both Queensland and the Kangaroos in his first year.
