Liverpool are reportedly preparing a formal offer to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a massive bid to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer. 

The Reds have already spent over £300m on seven new players, including big-money signings such as Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong, and are looking for further additions. 

Isak reportedly informed the Magpies that he wants to explore his options after missing their pre-season tour of Asia. 

With Premier League rivals Chelsea reportedly not in the race to sign the 25-year-old, the door has been left ajar for Liverpool to submit a massive offer to turn Isak’s head around. 

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Reds are poised to make a British record offer to sign the former Borussia Dortmund striker. 

Isak was ‘furious’ with the Newcastle director last season

Paul Mitchell inherited a tough job at St James’ Park as the Magpies barely managed to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. 

The Swede was told that the salary he expected would not be forthcoming, and the report claims that Isak was ‘furious’ with that decision, which led to an unsettled dressing room. 

The former Real Sociedad striker finished the 2024-25 campaign with 27 goals and helped Newcastle win their first domestic trophy in 70 years. 

At the same time, he is ambitious and wants to win the Premier League and the Champions League, and naturally, he would find it hard to refuse a move to Liverpool. 

Luis Diaz could play a big part in signing Isak

Newcastle will not let him leave the club on the cheap, and Liverpool will have to pay a handsome fee, possibly in the region of £130m, to sign the striker. 

The Reds are expected to sell Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez this summer, and Luis Diaz could be heading towards the exit door. 

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Diaz and have submitted their third offer for the Colombian. The money could be used towards signing Isak.

Newcastle may also fear losing their talismanic striker and have reportedly made exploratory contact to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
