Chelsea impressed against Tottenham on Saturday evening, so much so that Jamie Redknapp is rethinking the ceiling of what they can achieve this season.
Chelsea beating Spurs is nothing groundbreaking, in fact it’s a common occurrence. But that doesn’t mean it’s not impressive.
Maresca set his side up to be solid, aggressive and physical away from home. That resulted in Spurs struggling to play the ball forward and creating virtually nothing.
A dominant performance that Redknapp put an exclamation point on with some words of encouragement for Chelsea fans.

Redknapp’s ties to Spurs mean he was likely rooting for them, but that didn’t stop him from piling praise on the victors.
Summarising the performance for Sky Sports, Redknapp made a bold claim.
He said: “If you actually analyse the Premier League, there’s one outstanding side in Arsenal. They are head and shoulders above everyone else. The rest are all really struggling.
“No one’s really found that consistency, and that’s why it’s up for grabs for Chelsea this season. You know, they’ve got that confidence.”
🗣️ “At least when I look at Chelsea tonight there’s a bit of excitement, a bit of flair”
🗣️ “Tottenham just looked pace-less today”

A big statement from the former England player. Sustaining form and health for a full season is a different beast to tournament competition.
But Redknapp’s clearly quite impressed with what he has seen from Chelsea in recent weeks, despite being without their star player.
Redknapp hasn’t forgotten about Cole Palmer
With how deep Chelsea’s squad is, it can be easy to forget a player or two from time to time.
But you don’t forget about the stars, and you definitely don’t forget about Cole Palmer. He has been the talisman at Stamford Bridge since arriving, and his return will be huge.
As Redknapp puts it: “Once they get Cole Palmer back as well, imagine how much better they’re gonna be. There’s an excitement about watching Chelsea play.”
Palmer is a player you’d pay good money to watch. His elegant playstyle and ice-cold nerve have become a calling card for Chelsea, and his absence is felt.
We also have to remember that the Englishman is still only 23. When he rejoins the squad, who’s to say his game doesn’t go up another level.
Scary.
