Coronation Street exposed two major secrets in Weatherfield, with Carl and Kevin Webster being involved in a heated exchange.

The half-brothers have each been harbouring secrets in recent weeks, with Kevin not telling the truth regarding his recovery from cancer. Instead of telling Abi that he had received the all-clear, he told his wife that he required more chemotherapy.

Kevin had reasoned that the move was made in order to preserve his marriage, which has hit the rocks after he discovered that Abi and Carl shared a mutual attraction. Furthermore, Carl has been using Kevin’s garage to supply fake MOTs for stolen cars.

Friday’s episode (25 July) began with Abi returning to visit Kevin in ‘hospital’, though Tyrone – who knew that Kevin wasn’t telling the truth – attempted to cover for his friend by distracting her. Though his plan succeeded, Tyrone chastised Kevin for not telling Abi the truth.

Carl met with his business contact, Fiona, with the offer of a new car that is primed for stealing. Though his share of the profit was eventually whittled down, he had a more immediate problem as Kevin overheard the entire conversation.

He headed to the garage just as Fiona escaped with the vehicle, with the character quickly becoming faint as he chased after her. Glenda noticed that he was struggling, and took him to the hospital.

As Carl arrived, Kevin shared that he knew about his dealings with Fiona. Carl had discovered information of his own however, confirming that he had learned that Kevin had been given the all-clear weeks ago.

Tensions escalated further as Kevin threatened to go to the police regarding Carl’s crimes, though he responded that he would tell Abi the truth. As he teased that Kevin’s “world would be gone in an instant”, Abi walked in and seemed curious.

The pair both kept their heated discussion private for the time being, though Carl was in the firing line later as a police officer began enquiring about the stolen car. As he returned home, Kevin stated that Carl was “dead” to him, leaving their relationship in tatters…

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
