Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection is an outstanding celebration of an iconic franchise, but hardcore players are beginning to raise complaints about the compilation’s input lag on PS5.
To be fair, despite Sony’s console generally being preferred for fighting games, it’s wrestled with higher-than-average input lag across various titles – both modern and retro.
And testing from input lag expert Nigel Woodall in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 reveals the PS5 introduces about ~108ms of lag. That’s approximately six or seven frames.
By comparison, the PC version has about ~22ms of lag, the Xbox Series X|S has about ~51ms of lag, and the Switch 2 version has about ~73ms of lag. So, the PS5 version is by far the least responsive, and this testing is apparently consistent across other titles in the collection, too.
We appreciate all the #MKLK feedback we’ve received, including audio and lag issues. We’re planning a hotfix that should address multiple issues, while others will require more time. We’ll have more details next week, but know that we’re aware and we’re working on it. Thank you!— Digital Eclipse (@DigitalEclipse) October 31, 2025
Digital Eclipse, the developer, has already pushed out a hotfix on PC which it says fixes some audio issues. And it’s now turning its attention to console.
“We appreciate all the MKLK feedback we’ve received, including audio and lag issues. We’re planning a hotfix that should address multiple issues, while others will require more time. We’ll have more details next week, but know that we’re aware and we’re working on it. Thank you.”
The good news is that other fighters have managed to make dramatic improvements to input lag on PS5, so hopefully Digital Eclipse can reduce this number dramatically over the coming weeks.
Personally, we still recommend the collection overall, as we suspect it’s only the most hardcore players who are going to be really bothered by the input lag.
But clearly there’s room for improvement, and we’re hopeful the dev can address these issues fast.
