Fury retired from boxing in January this year, following his two back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.
The 36-year-old hung up his gloves, aggrieved by the results of his only two career defeats, with a professional record of 34-2-1.
Having recently taken to Instagram to tease his plan to return to the ring, he named his list of three opponents he is targeting for his return: Anthony Joshua, Usyk and Daniel Dubois.
In a recent interview with The Stomping Ground, Fury Sr revealed he would rather his son remain retired.
He said: “People want to see the Gypsy King, but I would rather him stay retired. He’s done his bit for the boxing world.
“He still loves his fans and he thanks them all very much for what they’ve done, but it’s only my opinion only I’d like to see him stay retired.”
Having seen first hand the level of fame that Fury gets, his dad understands the public’s desire to see Fury return to the ring but remained stern in his stance.
He explained: “Health, and he’s got a family, he’s other commitments apart from boxing.
“He’s done what he has to do in boxing, as far as I’m concerned, and he’s got a lot of young children he wants to be a father to, and he wants to be a healthy father, not somebody that’s ended up an imitation or one, you know.
“So it’s health before wealth. He’s got the wealth, he’s got everything else, he just needs to calm down and concentrate on what’s important.”

Following Usyk’s fifth round stoppage against Dubois last weekend, Fury actually shared a video calling his old foe out.
The Ukrainian seems to be his top contender, since Fury recently announced on Instagram they would be having their trilogy bout in 2026.
While that remains unconfirmed, Fury certainly made it clear that he wants a chance to get a win over Usyk’s 2-0 lead.
As Usyk has now been ordered to defend his undisputed heavyweight crown against Joseph Parker, one of the other two names given by Fury may be more likely.
Those names being fellow Britons Joshua and Dubois, who are both coming off of defeats in their most recent appearances like Fury.
As it stands, Fury’s return to the ring is yet to be officially announced but should he come back he will certainly be up against a big name within the division.
