Horselunges, a house in East Sussex previously owned by Peter Grant (Rightmove/Batcheller Monkhouse, Battle)
Horselunges, the former home of Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant, is struggling to sell after more than two years on the market despite dropping its asking price by a total of £1.5 million.
The large East Sussex house which can be seen at the start of “The Song Remains The Same” was initially listed for sale in July 2023 with a £4.5 million asking price.
The asking price was then dropped to £3.25 million in June 2024. It was also listed by a second estate agent.
Now, the asking price dropped again to £3 million on September 23, Rightmove shows, £1.5 million less than the original 2023 asking price.
It appears that Tim Philips, another estate agent, is also now marketing the property after he posted a video and photographs of it online.
Horselunges has been owned by the same family for more than 30 years after Grant sold the property around 1988 to Barry and Anna George. Following the sale, Grant lived in a flat above the house’s garage before he moved to a flat in Eastbourne.
Grant bought Horselunges around 1971, paying £80,000 for the property and another £10,000 for fixtures and fittings along with livestock and farm equipment. The house was purchased from Barbara Doxat, the widow of Edmund Doxat, according to Mark Blake’s 2018 biography of Grant, “Bring It On Home”.
“Mrs Doxat had these stuffed animals and boars’ heads,” Grant’s daughter Helen recalled in the 2018 book. “Her husband had been a hunter, and a lot of bloody horrible stuff came with the house.”
