All Gallagher Premiership rugby clubs, including Bristol Bears, are operating at a loss, with financial experts warning that the sport is reaching a “crisis” point.
The collapse of Worcester Warriors, Wasps, and London Irish highlights the instability, and more clubs could face closure unless the financial model changes.
An analysis by Business Live of Companies House records for the year ending June 30, 2024, shows every club in the Premiership is in the red.

“A lot of clubs see [the salary cap] as a target rather than a limit and then they overspend,” said Professor Rob Wilson, director of Play It Forward. “Clubs need to start spending less than they earn.”
