Bobby Madden has revealed seven leading FIFA officials passed the same verdict as himself over five incidents during Celtic’s thrilling Premier Sports Cup win over Rangers.
The former leading official insists a selection of grade one referees he contacted reckon Auston Trusty should have seen red for his kick on Jack Butland – voting six to one.
Angry Rangers have been left ‘unsatisfied’ with the SFA’s verdict on the decision by Walsh to only caution Celtic star Trusty after he crudely caught Butland on the head, with the ball already in the keeper’s possession.
But Nick Walsh and VAR officials have been backed up on the four other big calls made inside the national stadium after experts cast their eye over the flashpoints.
They reckon the call to award a spot-kick for Anthony Ralston’s handball was the right one, Daizen Maeda was correctly booked for catching Mohamed Diomande in the chest and it was a unanimous call on Thelo Aasgaard’s red card for his reckless challenge on Ralston.
The one incident which caused extra pause was Derek Cornelius’ tackle on Johnny Kenny – which returned a vote of 5-2 after former leading ref Keith Hackett admitted he thought Rangers got away with one.
Madden turned back the same verdict on the five incidents as the referees he canvassed and that was also backed-up by the public during the snap poll he conducted on social media.

Aasgard red card – 7-0 in favour of decision
Trusty yellow card – 6-1 against decision
Maeda yellow card – 7-0 in favour of decision
Ralston penalty award – 7-0 in favour of decision
