Masked nü-metallers BLACKGOLD have backed out of their planned show with CKY at The Fleece in Bristol, UK tonight, November 04th, after taking issue with CKY vocalist/guitarist Chad I Ginsburg. In a video posted on their social media today, BLACKGOLD condemned Ginsburg, though stopped short of describing any particular incident that led to this departure. They stated [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“What’s happening people of Bristol? Unfortunately we will not make the show this evening. We can not do another gig next to the frontman of CKY. We can not support that type of narcissism. Our whole touring party just doesn’t want to be around it. We want to play for you guys and we do this for fun, but this has turned not fun. We can not be around that guy.
So unfortunately, we are out. We will be back real soon to play another show. We thought this was gonna be fun, little bit of nostalgia to end the year for us, but it turned out to be absolutely horrendous. We can’t support it. But hey, at least we got to see a really bad vocal cover of [“96 Quite Bitter Beings“.] Fuck Chad.”
In caption on their post, BLACKGOLD added:
“PEOPLE OF BRISTOL. It hurts to say that we won’t be playing Bristol tonight.
Our whole touring crew cannot perform alongside the frontman of CKY. The level of disrespect we’ve been shown by this individual, leaves us no choice but to exit. Don’t be a narcissist, don’t be a dick..
We’ll be back soon with a headline. #knowyourworth”
BLACKGOLD joined up as support to CKY‘s latest UK tour on Halloween with tonight’s show closing out their leg. Ironically, this isn’t the first time Ginsburg has run afoul of their tourmates on a UK tour. November of 2024 saw CKY ejected from their UK tour with Alien Ant Farm after Ginsburg and Alien Ant Farm vocalist Dryden Mitchell had a backstage altercation. CKY‘s current UK tour is due to continue as follows:
