Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford‘s future could again be uncertain amid claims that boss Hansi Flick might depart Barcelona when the campaign concludes.

Rashford moved to the Catalan club on a temporary basis from United during the summer transfer window.

The forward has had a promising opening period with the side, netting six goals whilst contributing five assists across his 14 appearances.

The form has sparked speculation that Barcelona are already contemplating securing a permanent transfer in the summer, with the purchase clause included meaning United would pocket approximately £28million should it be activated.

Rashford has already indicated his enthusiasm for remaining in Spain. However, the doubt surrounding Flick’s position could complicate matters.

Spanish publication ABC reports that Flick has informed his coaching team of his intention to resign from his position as manager when the season ends.

The German is reportedly becoming ‘tired’ of the mood amongst the playing staff and with what he perceives as cultural problems in the changing room.

Flick holds Rashford in high regard and would probably be amongst the primary advocates for securing a permanent agreement this summer. Following the striker’s most recent strike in the 3-1 La Liga triumph against Elche, the coach was full of praise.

“One or two more goals would have been good for him,” he said. “I’m happy with him; I know he can play at this level and he’s shown it. He’s an important player.”

Should Flick depart during the summer, his successor might hold a different view regarding a permanent transfer and could potentially seek reinforcements from alternative sources.

However, the arrangement may not solely rest with Barcelona, as Flick’s possible exit could influence Rashford’s own decision.

The striker has previously outlined how Flick has supported him throughout his brief period at the club. “He’s very important. I feel the confidence he’s given me,” he told TNT Sport.

“I knew he was a top manager before I arrived here, but to work with him is a pleasure.

“I hope the good relationship will continue for the rest of the season.”

Considering the bond that has already formed, Rashford might potentially explore other options should Flick depart Barcelona during the summer. It represents a scenario that United will be monitoring closely throughout the coming months.
