SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Helpline Center announced on Wednesday that actor and mental health advocate Sean Astin will be coming to Sioux Falls this Thursday, November 6.
Sean Astin, known for roles in Rudy, The Goonies, The Lord of theRings, and Stranger Things, is also a vocal advocate for mental health.
He will discuss his personal journey, growing up with his mother, Patty Duke, who had bipolar disorder, and emphasize resilience, compassion, and open mental health discussions.
Astin will be at two sold-out events on Thursday.
The first is a ticketed luncheon at 11:00 am at The Catelin Hotel, where Sean will share his story. The second event is an evening presentation at 7:00 pm at O’Gorman High School, focusing on storytelling, advocacy, and support in mental health.
These events are part of the Helpline Center’s Speaker Series, an ongoing initiative to bring nationally recognized voices to the region and elevate mental health awareness and education.
