October saw the release of some very heavy hitters on PS5, and so the PS Store download charts were always going to make for an interesting read.
Given that it released right at the start of the month and is a PS5 exclusive with the full weight of Sony’s marketing behind it, you would have expected Ghost of Yotei to storm to the top — but it simply couldn’t surpass Battlefield 6.
EA’s new shooter topped the charts in both North America and Europe, with Yotei settling for second place across the two regions. We already knew Battlefield 6 was a commercial juggernaut, but it’s been especially dominant on PS5.
The rest of the charts give way to some intriguing stories. ARC Raiders did really well for itself despite launching just last week, and so did Dispatch, even though all of its episodes aren’t out yet.
Digimon Story Time Stranger also turned out to be an impressive hit alongside Little Nightmares 3, leading to a surprisingly successful month for Bandai Namco.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for October’s titles. Ninja Gaiden 4 seemingly struggled, just about slashing into the top 20 in North America, but it didn’t even register in Europe.
And sadly, it’s a similar story for The Outer Worlds 2. Obsidian’s RPG launched very late in the month, and it could only manage 15th place in North America. Much like Ninja Gaiden 4, it didn’t make the cut in Europe.
