Paul O’Grady’s friend has claimed that the late star is “haunting” him.

The TV personality – who rose to fame as drag queen alter ego Lily Savage – passed away in 2023 at the age of 67, after suffering a sudden cardiac arrhythmia at his home in Kent.

His longtime pal Malcolm Prince, who has opened up about the star in his book Paul O’Grady – Not The Same Without You, has now revealed that he believes Paul visits him at his flat, reports the Daily Record.

He spoke candidly on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday (November 6) as he discussed his close friendship with the late comedian and TV personality.

“It feels really odd to speak about someone like that in the past tense – I’m sure you still find it challenging to do that,” presenter Lorraine Kelly observed.

Malcolm responded: “I speak about him as though he is still here. I mean, he is haunting me, Lorraine.”

“The ghost comes,” he maintained as Lorraine looked fascinated. “He does, he comes to the flat. I know he does.”

The author then told Lorraine about one specific incident when he was interviewing actress Jodie Prenger, who was an admirer of the late For The Love Of Dogs host, explaining that the lights suddenly flickered off.

“We were up at her home and we were talking about Gypsy, the musical, his favourite musical. He was desperate for Jodie to do it,” he said.

“During that conversation, all the lights went out in her house. And she can afford the electricity, don’t worry. It was Savage. That was Savage.”

“And he’s still haunting me,” he said. “In a good way though, in a good way?” Lorraine queried, to which Malcolm replied: “In a really good way, yeah.”

Paul passed away unexpectedly in March 2023. Reports at the time stated that he had died in bed next to his husband Andre Portasio.

The news sparked a wave of sorrow among fans, friends and fellow celebrities, with many taking to the streets to honour the late star before his funeral in April 2023.

Lorraine airs on ITV on weekdays from 9am
