The winner of Celebrity Traitors has finally been revealed as the star was in floods of tears. Viewers have enjoyed tuning into The Celebrity Traitors every Wednesday and Thursday on BBC One. The finale episode aired on Thursday after an exciting series filled with drama, suspense and iconic moments.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the celebrity edition of the popular TV show has seen a batch of famous faces make their way into the castle with the chance to prove themselves as either a Faithful or a Traitor.

Last month, 19 celebrities descended on the Scottish castle. The finalists were Faithfuls David Olusoga, Nick Mohammed and Joe Marler, as well as Traitors Alan and Cat.

The iconic game of deception and betrayal has featured a huge list of stars including actor and broadcaster Sir Stephen Fry, Olympian Tom Daley, singer Charlotte Church and TV presenter Kate Garraway.

From Celia Imrie finding an unexpectedly hilarious way to ease the tension during one of the show’s supposedly spooky challenges, to the glorious chaos brought by Alan Carr – a man completely unfamiliar with the concept of a “poker face” – Celebrity Traitors has turned out to be one of the year’s TV highlights.

A tense finale episode saw Cat Burns and Joe Marler banished from the game, leaving Nick, David and Alan as the final three. In the end, it was Alan Carr who took home all the winnings.

As he was the only Traitor still in the game, he was able to steal the whole £87,500 jackpot for his own charity. If Alan was a Faithful, he would’ve been able to split the money with his co-stars.

Alan burst into tears and was quick to apologise to his co-stars. Taking to social media, one fan said: “TV moment of the year! Alan Carr ultimate traitor!”

Another said: “I fear no traitor will ever be quite as iconic as Alan Carr ever again.”

Alan Carr has been a fan-favourite contestant as one of the most unlikely Traitors the show has ever seen. Cat and Jonathan were in stitches when the 49-year-old comedian lifted the hood down on his green cloak to reveal he was the third Traitor.

He kicked off the series by “murdering” his good friend Paloma Faith. But Alan didn’t stop there, later getting rid of Celia Imrie, again in “plain sight”.

He made a toast and said: “Parting is such sweet sorrow”, followed by the star’s name.

Alan and fellow Traitor, singer Cat Burns were the first to arrive at breakfast the next morning. Meanwhile, the other stars patiently waited to learn who had been “murdered”. When Celia failed to appear, Joe Mahler said: “My darling Celia is gone, I’m heartbroken”

Speaking to PA news agency, Alan said he would do the show again in a “heartbeat”. He said: “I think me and the entire nation didn’t believe I would get through the first roundtable let alone be in the final five. What a journey. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

“The strange thing is, weirdly even though we’ve been murdering and banishing national treasures, Olympians, intellectuals and popular entertainers, my family are still strangely proud of me – which is frankly quite odd.”

Speaking about the fan reactions, Alan Carr added: “I’ve been bathing in the love, it really has put a spring in my step, and I am loving the constant flow of memes that pop up on my feed.

“The public scrutiny and all the theories, some actually quite bizarre, have been really interesting to read, but I guess when you have such huge ratings this analysis of your every move comes with the territory.”

The finale episode was originally due to air on Halloween, Friday, October 31. But a change to BBC’s scheduling meant the last episode in the series aired on Thursday, November 6 instead. The Celebrity Traitors Finale was broadcast on BBC One from 9pm until 10:10pm.
