Hattie Hook (Of An Age) has boarded supernatural thriller Train, the directorial debut from Conjuring Universe scribes Chad and Carey Hayes, Deadline reports today.
Hook joins previously announced cast member Frances O’Connor, who starred in The Conjuring 2.
Train follows “seventeen-year-old Katie Thompson, a troubled teen spiralling after the tragic death of her younger brother – a loss that has left her not only emotionally scarred but also cursed with a disturbing ability to glimpse the world beyond the living. Desperate to help her, Katie’s exhausted parents send her to a recovery centre, forcing her and her estranged mother, Tami, to board a long-distance train bound for Washington.
“But as old tensions flare between them, Katie begins to experience terrifying visions and a ghostly presence warning of something sinister lurking aboard. Tami, sceptical and unwilling to believe, soon finds herself facing the unimaginable truth about her daughter’s gift – and the darkness surrounding them. As the train hurtles toward its final destination, mother and daughter must confront both their past and the paranormal – before the journey reaches a deadly conclusion.”
Altitude has acquired international sales rights to Train and will launch the film at the upcoming American Film Market. Blake Northfield (Boast Of War) and Michelle Krumm (The Spectacular Now) will produce through their banner Bronte Studios.
“Having created the biggest horror franchise of all time, Chad and Carey’s track record speaks for itself,” Mike Runagall of Altitude said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to team up with them and our friends at Bronte Studios on their directorial debut, Train, which promises to intrigue and terrify audiences around the world.”
