Bradford Bulls full-back Tom Holmes was one of seven players to leave Odsal this off-season, and has now landed a new club ahead of 2026.
The former Castleford Tigers playmaker, who returned to the sport in the summer of 2024, after overcoming a rare form of skin cancer, has spent the past three seasons at the West Yorkshire outfit, making 68 appearances.
The 29-year-old, who also had spells at Huddersfield Giants and Featherstone Rovers among others, left the club upon the expiry of his contract, but was immediately picked up by another Championship side, who themselves have already made some bright additions to their squad for next season.
Doncaster RLFC will be where Holmes plies his trade for the next two seasons, and will join new recruits Muizz Mustapha, Cory Aston and Connor Jones in forming part of Richard Horne’s squad next year.
Commenting on the move, Holmes said he will be “proud” to represent his new club, as he begins the next chapter of his career.
He said: “I’m excited for the next two years to be at Doncaster.
“Hopefully myself and the other signings can add to the existing group. It’s a great group that the club has got the minute but hopefully together we can help push that one step further.
“I’ll be proud to wear the Doncaster shirt, that’s for sure.”
Ex-Castleford Tigers prop re-signs with club as former Bradford Bulls man joins
Alongside the news of Holmes’ signature this week, Doncaster also announced that one of their forward pack has agreed new terms with the club.
Ex-Castleford man Tyla Hepi, who also has Super League experience with Hull KR, will stay with the club for another two seasons, taking him into a third and fourth season under former Hull FC man Horne.
The 32-year-old has made 27 appearances for the club so far, and will look to continue providing experience and strength to the Dons pack.
On the new contract, coach Horne had nothing but praise to say about his prop forward.
He said: “We’re really pleased to keep hold of Tyla. He’s shown a strong desire to stick with us and help to achieve the goals that we have over the next few years.
“He’s the sort of character that you need in a changing room and I’m sure he’ll continue to make a big impact.”
