A major homeware retailer is due to close all of it’s showrooms after the business went into administration. The company has branches all over the UK including Bristol and Bath, which are also set to close.
Fired Earth was liquidated on October 31 after the company filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators. The branch had been operating for more than 40 years, offering interior design services to customers across the country. The closure will see the loss of 133 jobs.
The Bristol and Bath branches, along with 19 other showrooms, are due to shut soon and the company will only continue working from its Banbury head office and warehouse whilst it fulfils existing orders.
Dane O’Hara said: “Fired Earth has been loss-making for some time. In the last three years, the company has been supported by its shareholder via substantial working capital loans while efforts were made to return the business to profitability.
“Unfortunately, the company continued to incur trading losses, and its investor was not prepared to provide further funding in the absence of a viable turnaround strategy.”
The company sold a range of interior design tiles fit for bathrooms, kitchens, walls and floors as well as paints.
The Bristol Branch is located on Whiteladies Road in Redland and the Bath storeroom is on Broad Street towards the North of the city.
Other locations due to close are in Exeter, Cheltenham, Chester, Harrogate, Knutsford, London and Nottingham and Truro. Fired Earth also has two international stores in Norway and Denmark.
