The new Claret and Blue kit celebrates the 50th anniversary of Iron Maiden’s formation and West Ham’s 1975 FA Cup final victory against Fulham.

Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris wore the collaborative shirt for the encore at the band’s London Stadium show this summer.

Harris said: “The day really was something special and I didn’t really take it all in until much later” recollects Steve. “We’d been wearing that shirt in all our football matches this season across Europe including the game at West Ham United’s amazing, redeveloped community hub ‘The Foundry’, so it just felt like the right thing to do.

“There were so many of our previous football shirts in the crowd – I hope fans grab this one too to remind them of that day.”

The shirt features the iconic 1975 Cup Final badge and the classic Claret & Blue piping around the neck and arms. The shirt also features the Iron Maiden logo across the front of the shirt and IMFC on the right side.

Speaking on West Ham’s FA Cup victory half a century ago, Steve Harris said: “I wasn’t at the game but what great memories. Two goals from Alan Taylor and we won it! Frank Lampard and Pat Holland were in the team who used to coach me as a junior as well! Come On You Irons!

Iron Maiden were formed on Christmas Day, 25 December 1975, by bassist Steve Harris. Harris attributed the band’s name to a film adaptation of The Man in the Iron Mask from the novel by Alexandra Dumas, as the title reminded him of the iron maiden torture device.

Iron Maiden have received numerous nominations, honours and awards including Grammy Awards and equivalents awards in many countries, Brit Awards and Juno Awards. They have ranked highly in many polls of the greatest metal artists of all time.

The retro Iron Maiden and West Ham shirt is available to purchase for £70 from Maiden’s official store.
