Former Hollyoaks star Hollie-Jay Bowes has sparked return rumours after a mysterious new social media post. The actor last appeared in the soap as Michaela McQueen all the way back in 2012.
However, could she be returning to the village? Well, the star – who now stars in Waterloo Road – has certainly got fans excited with a new Instagram video.

In the clip, she is seen walking with the camera facing herself with a smile on her face, before she whispers: “Guys, shhh.”
It then cuts to another clip of Hollie-Jay, as she tells fans: “Actually that’s a bit of a spoiler. You’re gonna have to wait!”
“What have I been up to? Any ideas??” the actor captioned the clip, leading to a flood of fan comments.

“Hollyoaks!!! 🤩❤️ We need Michaela McQueen back!! One of my fave characters back in the day!” one wrote, another adding: “I soooo hope it’s Hollyoaks. You were one of my faves xx.”
“Is that the Hollyoaks set this is epic,” a third added, while a fourth said: “Michaela’s coming back isn’t she?! All the references the last few weeks have been hints.”
Scenes this week saw Michaela phone off screen to tell mum Myra that sister Carmina was being bullied, leading Myra to head to Alicante to sort things out, potentially setting things up for a return with Michaela.

The character was first introduced on screen in 2006, before she was axed from the soap four years later. She was subsequently brought back in 2011, before leaving again a year later.
Speaking about her departure 13 years ago, Hollie-Jay told Inside Soap: “I’m leaving Hollyoaks. I love Michaela and she’s absolutely my baby. But I’m 23 years old now, and it’s time to explore things.”
In other Hollyoaks news, Lucas Hay was finally caught out in his abuse storyline in last night’s episode after lashing out at dad Ste again, with Dillon walking in at that moment.
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
