The Frenchman has emerged as the club’s first choice to replace Brendan Rodgers in the dugout.
Nancy is currently the manager of MLS outfit Columbus Crew and has led the side to the MLS Cup and Leagues Cup.
“A couple of the Crew guys have mentioned it in the USA camp,” said Trusty, who is currently away on international duty.
“We haven’t talked too much in depth but I know he’s a good coach and has had a lot of success.
“They were asking if I’d seen it and I was asking what their thoughts are.

“That sort of stuff has nothing to do with me, with regards to who the gaffer is going to be.
“If Martin stays, that would be awesome, but I have no control over whoever comes in.”
It is understood that Celtic’s head of football operations, Paul Tisdale, recommended Nancy to the club.
Martin O’Neill is currently in interim charge at Parkhead.
“I am not party to anything that is happening with the board talking to prospective clients and things like this, nor do I want to be because that has never been a remit of mine,” the Northern Irishman told BBC Belfast on Friday.
“My job was to come in and hold the fort and the minute that someone is appointed I will step aside.
“And if that was tomorrow I would gladly step aside. It’s not a problem. It’s nothing to do with ego or anything like that. It’s just to help out in the very very short term.”
