Here is a full list of every Super League player still in contract negotiations with their club over a proposed deal for 2026. There are 21 in total, with over half of those coming from one club. Seven sides have already completed all their retentions, but that doesn’t mean to say there won’t be any more incomings from those clubs.
Bradford Bulls: 3
Youngster Sam Ackroyd and overseas duo Jorge Taufua and Zane Musgrove are the trio that the Bulls have yet to confirm the future of.
Ex-Super League men Taufua and Musgrove will be hoping to put pen to paper on an extension, and with Bradford having two quota spots open on the cap, it could be a possibility.
Castleford Tigers: 2
The Tigers have announced 10 departures from their 2025 squad, including Tom Amone, who leaves following the expiry of his loan, and forwards George Griffin and Jeremiah Simbiken move on to pastures now.
Some of those 10 were still under contract for next season, with the likes of Liam Horne and Innes Senior leaving their contracts earlier to move to Leigh Leopards.
However, there are still a a couple more current players whose futures are up in the air, with veterans Joe Westerman and Brad Singleton yet to renew terms.
Catalans Dragons: 2
Key departures from the Dragons this year include Tevita Pangai Jr, Theo Fages and Reimis Smith, as Joel Tomkins looks to build a brand-new squad for 2026 and beyond.
Nothing has been announced on Alrix Da Costa, who has been a reliable servant to the club, and Matthieu Laguerre, the French international centre who has scored 24 tries in 66 appearances for Les Dracs, although the latter has been pictured in pre-season training
Huddersfield Giants: 1
The Giants are one of many clubs that have pretty much completed their retentions for 2026, with only academy graduate Connor Carr waiting to find out if he will be coming back to the Accu Stadium next year.
However, after featuring in the club’s home shirt release, it is highly likely he will remain a Giant next year.
Hull FC: 0
John Cartwright and Richie Myler have completed their contract business, and are on their way to finalising their 2026 squad, having already announced six new faces including Sam Lisone, Jake Arthur and James Bell.
Hull KR: 0
Similar to their local rivals, KR have also finished their retentions. They have confirmed that AJ Wallace (Toulouse), Rowan Milnes (Bradford) and Lennie Ellis (Sheffield) will leave the club, alongside the retiring duo of Jared Waerea-Hargeaves and Michael McIlorum.
Leeds Rhinos: 0
Leeds have completed all of their retainment, and have let seven players leave the club this off-season, five of which were off-contract at the end of 2025.
Focus for the Headingley outfit is now on 2027, with the likes of Lachie Miller and Ash Handley penning new deals in recent weeks.
Leigh Leopards: 3
It took them a while, but a new deal for Lachlan Lam has now been announced, meaning the Leopards only have three players out of contract for next year. The biggest name of the trio is former Leeds and Warrington hooker, Brad Dwyer. The 32-year-old hasn’t had the game time he wanted since his move to Leigh, having fallen behind Matt Davis and Ben McNamara as Edwin Ipape’s backup. Liam Horne’s arrival will only provide another obstacle in his bid for minutes at the Leopards.
Jack Darbyshire and Kavan Rothwell are the final two, neither of which have made an appearance for Leigh this year, though the former made his Super League debut on loan at Salford earlier this year.
St Helens: 1
Following a recent flurry of contract extensions, Agnatius Paasi remains as the only Saints player to still be in a contract limbo at the Red Vee. However, he is believed to have signed a new deal, it just hasn’t been confirmed.
Toulouse Olympique: 0
The French outfit have completed their business when it comes to retentions, and have kept on the majority of their Championship Grand Final winning squad to play in the top flight next year.
Just three players will exit the club this off-season, with one of those being former St Helens man Dominique Peyroux.
Wakefield Trinity: 0
Trinity have completed their business, as they say goodbye to six players. Liam Hood and Renouf Atoni will both join Castleford, with Josh Griffin heading to Super League new boys York. Jack Croft, Matty Russell and Mathieu Cozza will also depart the DIY Kitchens Stadium.
Warrington Wolves: 0
They left it late, but Warrington have now confirmed the futures of all their off-contract players. Rodrick Tai will leave the club, with Jake Thewlis, Toby King, Sam Powell and Jordy Crowther all signing new terms.
Wigan Warriors: 0
The Warriors are the sixth and final club to have completed all their contract business for next year, and have decided to part ways with Harvie Hill (Hull FC), Liam Byrne (Warrington Wolves) and Jacob Douglas (St Helens).
York Knights: 13
York are the side with the most work to do when it comes to retention, and can be forgiven with the club needing to assess which players are worthy of a spot in Super League, and which are not.
Currently, that figure sits at over a dozen players. They are:
Bailey Antrobus, Sam Cook, Levi Edwards, Jude Ferreira, Myles Harrison, Ben Jones-Bishop, Joe Law, Jacques O’Neill, Harvey Reynolds, Brenden Santi, Jordan Thompson, Mac Walsh and Brad Ward.
