The Beach Boys at the Piece Hall

Since The Beach Boys’ co-founder, lead singer and chief lyricist Mike Love penned the lyrics to the band’s first hit Surfin’, dozens of the band’s chart-toppers have remained eternal anthems of American youth.

Hits include Surfin’ USA, Surfer Girl, Fun, Fun, Fun, I Get Around, California Girls, Help Me Rhonda, Barbara Ann, Good Vibrations, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Rock and Roll Music and Kokomo.

They have sold more than 100million records worldwide and received more than 33 Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Platinum and Gold record awards.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers were also honoured at the 2001 GRAMMY Awards with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

With more than five decades of touring under their belts, The Beach Boys have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history.

Who is in the Beach Boys now?

Led by Mike Love, longtime member Bruce Johnston, musical director Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago and John Wedemeyer continue the legacy of the iconic band.

Who will be supporting them?

Art-rock pioneers 10cc – which formed in Stockport in 1972 and enjoyed five consecutive Top 10 albums in five years – will be joining them on the night.

Fronted by co-founder Graham Gouldman, the band has undergone a renaissance in recent years.

Gouldman was awarded an MBE for services to music in the King’s Birthday Honours List.

‘More global superstars’

Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL, CEO of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, said: “How amazing to be welcoming more global superstars to Calderdale.

“And is there a more iconic summer sound than The Beach Boys?

“What a privilege to help them mark six decades of their hugely influential album Pet Sounds, frequently ranked as one of the best of all time. I’m so pleased we’re able to host these legends, as a slice of pure pop history is celebrated in our world class heritage site.”
