Rachel Beck, from Eastburn, has founded Vigor Vitamins Ltd.
And the 41-year-old’s battle with health issues in the past has led to her developing a pioneering multivitamin product.
What is the pioneering product?
It contains all 13 essential vitamins, says Rachel – plus Choline for brain function and Inositol for hormone regulation, specifically formulated for women approaching perimenopause and menopause.
And Marine and Bovine collagen have been blended to create a combined product.
‘I knew I had to produce one myself’
Rachel’s personal life journey has shaped her business philosophy.
She fought with severe anxiety in her 20s.
Rachel said: “After struggling with my mental and physical health, I wanted a multivitamin that would provide a complete nutritional insurance policy.
“When I couldn’t find one already out there, I knew I had to produce one myself, and in doing so make supplements an easy and transparent offering.”
How Rachel launched the company
Following corporate work in sales and marketing, Rachel’s breakthrough came when she applied for a post at a supplement manufacturing business.
She didn’t get the job, but after she’d presented her vision during the interview process, the company told her she was more suited to running her own business – rather than working for them – and instead offered to help formulate products with her.
“I’m here to help cut through the confusion of the wellness industry,” said Rachel.
“Of the women in my initial study group, 87 per cent said they weren’t sure if their supplements actually worked or were doing them good.
“If you’re paying monthly for products, you should be confident they’re effective.”
She added: “I’ve always believed business can be honest, ethical and moral.
“I have struggled working for others when our morals didn’t align. I lead with product, not profit.”
‘My business has saved me’
Rachel’s determination to pursue her vision was reinforced following the death of her father six years ago.
She says: “He worked in jobs he didn’t like while waiting to retire, only to be diagnosed with a brain tumour a year later.
“I vowed I’d never live like that.
“I was a people pleaser, bouncing from job to job. The last couple of years have been a massive development opportunity.
“Working out my business, developing my skills and believing in myself have given me purpose. My business has saved me.”
Vigor Vitamins Ltd was launched with an event at Skipton, attended by health and wellness experts who’d supported Rachel in her venture.
Speakers included proactive health advocate and former GP Dr Will Dawson, and Rachel Woolford – 2024 winner of The Apprentice.
