Mental health urgent care center expands to 24-hour operations

NEWPORT, Vt. (WCAX) – On Wednesday, a northeast kingdom mental health resource celebrates its full-time opening.

Front Porch Mental Health Urgent Care in Newport opened last year with limited hours.

Now, Northeast Kingdom Human Services, which operates the center, is celebrating an expansion to 24-hour operations.

The four-bed facility is open to anyone in the community who needs help and is designed to be a more appropriate setting than an emergency room.

Front Porch will have an open house for their grand re-opening on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the location on Lakemont Road in Newport.
