An Avengers: Doomsday costume photo reveals a major unconfirmed fan theory regarding Doctor Doom.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is now in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in United States theaters next year. It will be followed by a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, that arrives in 2027.
What is the Avengers: Doomsday fan theory?
Earlier this month, the Russo Brothers’ production company AGBO shared a TikTok where Sue Storm and Franklin Richards mannequins can be seen in the background. A Doctor Doom mannequin appeared to be standing in-between the two of them; however, he was mostly hidden from the camera.
On Twitter, user @kickingcomics has shared a photo that fully reveals the three mannequins and their costumes. It comes with the caption, “Sue is 100% Doom’s wife in his universe, and Franklin was his son.”
This fan theory is just a rumor at this time and has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios; however, it does possibly speak to Doom’s motivation in Doomsday. If Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom isn’t from Earth-838 and, rather, comes from a different universe, it’s entirely possible that he could have been married to Sue Storm. This doesn’t necessarily explain why she’d be wearing a Fantastic Four costume; however, the mannequin could resemble the Earth-838 Sue. The larger theory at play, here, would be that Doom has plans for Earth-838’s Sue and Franklin, as he could be trying to cut Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards out of the picture. The incursion could then be his method of doing so, as this could give Doom an opportunity to adopt them as his own family.
Again, this is pure speculation at the time, as plot details for Doomsday and Secret Wars are being kept under wraps at Marvel. Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
