La Voix has revealed a ‘surprise’ to her fans as her Strictly Come Dancing future remains uncertain, having suffered a painful injury.

The drag performer, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, was left gutted having had to pull out of the latest live show, having been due to perform in week nine of the competition this Saturday (November 22), which will this week be broadcast live from Blackpool.

It is often a goal for the couples to make it through to week nine of the competition every year, before the grand final in just a few weeks’ time and the seven couples set to make the jaunt up north were confirmed ahead of the show this Saturday (November 22).

But it was confirmed on Tuesday (November 18) that La Voix is now under doctors’ orders to rest. A Strictly spokesperson said: “In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.”

Later explaining the injury, Chris shared on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two: “This has been ongoing since the Foxtrot week. I felt a little niggle in my foot, hence why there were some comments about me being flat-footed in the famous heel turn. I thought ‘this will be fine’, it got gradually worse and worse.

“On Saturday, we had to change shoes and I couldn’t wear heels. I had to wear those awful shoes, La Voix in awful flat shoes… We tried on Monday to learn this week’s dance and it was clear I was struggling and in pain. We had to be professional and call it, get some rest.”

But amidst the wait to find out if they will be performing in week 10 of Strictly’s 2025 series next weekend, La Voix has taken to social media with some exciting news.

“Surprise, darlings! I have a very special Christmas gift just for you…” the Ru Paul’s Drag Race star wrote on Instagram: “My brand new Christmas single is OUT NOW! Stream it on ALL platforms and let’s make this Christmas season even brighter together! It’s the magic of Christmas.”

She then added in the comments: “iTunes etc will be launched soon! Apparently just a slightly delay but for now you can find me on Spotify!” before the messages of support came flooding in.

It comes after Chris took to Instagram on Thursday morning (November 20) with a video and further explained the injury, saying he was heading for an MRI scan to get further clarification on what is going on beneath the surface.

Speaking in the clip, he said: “Hello my darlings. Well, as I’m looking at social media and everyone is off to Blackpool, I’m off for an MRI scan to see what is actually going on with my foot. I have a bone brusie which is basically from the repetition of being in the heels and it’s on where my toe joint meets my foot.

“So it’s like a deep joint bruise which basically, if I keep working on could become a stress facture, which obviously means a broken foot, which is six to eight weeks off my foot in a boot which would be awful. So luckily, they’ve caught it before it’s got to that stage.”

Chris went on to hail the show’s physio team, as well as the who Strictly cast and crew, who he says have “been amazing”. Chris added: “I’ve had MRI’s, I’ve had X-rays, I’ve had physio and that’s all carrying on today. So I’ve got my very attractive boot on… which is so awful and I’m icing, keep my foot elevated and resting as much as I can!”
