There has been an uplift in Celtic’s performances out on the pitch.

Yes, the same can’t be said for Celtic’s off-field problems, and the relationship between the board and the paying supporters.

But Martin O’Neill and his backroom staff have made a huge difference, as one man who has been part of his coaching set-up is Mark Fotheringham.

Fotheringham went viral for one of his post-match interviews during his days as Huddersfield Town coach, but he seems to be making a difference now that he is in the colours of Celtic.

Fotheringham is a loud character, even O’Neill mentioned that in his presser when he first replaced Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking on Go Radio, Charlie Mulgrew shared that Fotheringham has brought a lot of ‘energy’ to Celtic training, and it has been ‘infectious’ amongst the group.

“Shaun Maloney has done a great job,” said Mulgrew. “McManus has done a job. Fotheringham has stepped in, and his energy is, I am hearing, it’s infectious.

“It’s having a big impact and he is helping to do his bit as well.”

Mulgrew states what Celtic need to do with a new manager

The noise suggests that Wilfried Nancy will be Celtic’s next manager, but as of this moment, O’Neill is still taking charge of proceedings.

Mulgrew admitted ‘there is no better man’ to be standing in Celtic’s dugout right now, but he would like the managerial process to quicken up.

“I don’t know what the hold-up is,” said Mulgrew. “I think they need to get it done. The quicker, the better.

“It’s the balance of taking your time to get the right man, but also getting done, so they can get to the window and get in the signings, and everybody settles and knows where they stand.

“But there is no better man and taking care of it than Martin O’Neill.”
