Netflix subscribers have only days remaining to watch a “compelling” drama starring Stephen Graham.

The acclaimed actor, known for his roles in Line of Duty, Boiling Point and This Is England, led the cast in The Walk-In back in 2022.

The ITV drama sees Graham portray Matthew Collins, an activist who goes undercover within a neo-Nazi organisation to thwart a potential terrorist attack.

Drawing from real events, the five-episode series delivers uncomfortable viewing as Collins, himself a reformed former neo-Nazi turned anti-fascist, employs his first-hand understanding to prepare undercover operatives, referred to as walk-ins, for infiltrating such groups.

The hard-hitting drama also features Andrew Ellis, Dean-Charles Chapman, Leanne Best, Jason Flemyng and Chris Coghill.

“Stephen Graham shines in this explosive state-of-the-world drama. Based on real events, it follows an activist and his advocacy group as they confront an extremist organisation,” ITV previously teased, reports the Express.

Reviewers praised The Walk-In as a “gripping drama” and “deeply compelling”, whilst viewers confessed to being “hooked”. One wrote: “A show that got me hooked! Also very relevant! Amazing show!”

One viewer cautioned: “Hard viewing, it is very uncomfortable to watch at times, the first couple of episodes feature some truly harrowing and upsetting content, you will see some sickening events, truly the worst of humanity, fortunately there’s a glimmer of hope.” They then praised: “Very well produced, superbly acted, it felt very realistic. I appreciate this show isn’t for everyone, but I’d recommend it, entertaining as well as informative.”

“Excellent drama that we should all watch,” chimed in another, while a different viewer penned: “A hard-hitting and tough drama to watch. Based on real events, amidst the shocking murder of Jo Cox in 2016 – a week before the Brexit Referendum – this drama series is raw, gripping and highly disturbing throughout.”

Another added: “An absolute must watch British drama with yet another believable and stunning performance from Steven Graham showing his versatility and brilliant acting makes this factful five part series one of the best I’ve watched recently and left me wishing it was a 10 part.”

Graham previously shared the importance of The Walk-In, telling Radio Times: “I think it’s important we have drama like this that tells the truth. It’s the reason why I choose the scripts I do.

“I love to go into people’s living rooms and create conversation and debate, try and bring about some discussion about what they’re watching. It’s important for me, as an actor, to be part of something that’s a social commentary.”

He added on The Graham Norton Show: “It’s very close to my heart – it’s a very poignant and powerful drama that’s really relevant to what is happening today. It is a wonderful piece and what I really like is being part of something that puts a mirror up to society.” He continued: “I was a bit nervous at first about people’s reaction to it, but the way it has been received is phenomenal.”
