Callum McGregor’s dramatic 95th-minute winner at St Mirren was massive for Celtic.
At the time it was a much-needed goal, but at 5 pm on Sunday, it got even bigger after Aberdeen had beaten Hearts 1-0, seeing Celtic close the gap on the league leaders, yet again.
The captain’s strike also left at least one familiar face across Glasgow feeling the sting.

Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist admitted on talkSPORT that he was “gutted” to see the Hoops snatch the points so late, especially with Rangers hoping to close the gap.
The Ibrox side sit in fourth place, level on points with Hibs, five points behind Celtic.
McCoist wasn’t afraid to praise McGregor, the same as Boyd post-match, but admitted he saw Saturday as an opportunity to close the gap.
He said:
“By the way, what a hit wasn’t it. It was some strike I’ve got to say.
“And Aberdeen beating Hearts yesterday, yeah, so it’s cats back amongst the pigeons, mate.
“I must admit, I was kind of gutted, because if Callum doesn’t hit that goal, we were only three points behind you, but as it happens, we are still five.
“But no, we thought it would change, but there’s still a long, long way to go, mate.”
McGregor’s strike ensured Celtic kept control of the chase behind Hearts and kept Rangers at arm’s length heading into another crucial run of fixtures.
Celtic face Hearts in a few weeks, and then play their game in hand a few weeks later at Dundee United.
If Celtic keep on winning and grinding out results, they could be top of the table come Christmas.
