Nottingham Forest could find the door has opened on a player in whom they are claimed to have been ‘very interested’.
That’s according to Spanish outlet El Periodico Aragon who have written a story about Getafe striker Adrian Liso.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan with the Madrid-based club from Real Zaragoza, who are currently bottom of Segunda División.
He has scored three goals and added three assists in 11 games for the La Liga outfit, playing either as a left winger or centre forward. He has also made his debut for Spain’s Under-20s.
The youngster came through the youth system at Zaragoza but was loaned for one season to Getafe in the summer.
El Periodico Aragon claim that Forest were keen on him last season, after he made 41 appearances and helped Zaragoza avoid relegation to the Spanish third tier.
Instead he moved to Getafe with the claim that they hold an option to buy 50 per cent of the player’s rights for €3million. It was reported in newspaper AS earlier this week that Getafe have decided to exercise that option.
However, El Periodico Aragon now carry quotes form Getafe president Ángel Torres stating that is not the case.
“It is absolutely not true that we have already informed Zaragoza of the payment of that purchase option,” he said.
“Nor is it true that a decision has been made to exercise it. It remains to be seen and depends on many circumstances, as there’s still a long way to go in the season and we also have to consider the opinions of the sporting department and the coach.”
Forest have several options on the left wing, including Callum Hudson-Odoi, while Omari Hutchinson, Dan Ndoye and Dilane Bakwa can also operate in that postion. Up front Igor Jesus is ahead of Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi, while Arnaud Kalimuendo has struggled for game-time and is himself the subject of transfer speculation.
It has been claimed that other Premier League clubs have Liso on their radar, as do Italian teams and even a side in Greece.
Even if Getafe don’t take up the option he is not expected to return to Zaragoza next summer. Liso is under contract with Zaragoza until 2029.
