First look images of series two of hit TV drama Patience have been revealed today (Tuesday).

The Channel 4 crime drama, which is set in York, was seen filming its second series in the city in June earlier this year – and now we’ve got our first peek of the new series.

In June, the cast and crew could be seen filming around York Minster, and the images revealed today show the cast inside the iconic York landmark.

Ella Maisy Purvis stars as Patience Evans

The show follows Patience, played by Ella Maisy Purvis – a young woman with autism who is navigating her role within the criminal records department of the City of York Police.

Soon her ability to spot crime patterns means she is a essential part of the detective team solving a series of improbable deaths across York.

Returning for an extended duration of eight episodes, Patience continues her work in the police criminal records department of City of York Police after establishing herself as an invaluable member of the team, bringing her unique insight into a series of perplexing cases.

The new series promises ‘more twisted and mysterious crimes in spectacular settings including a killer in York Minster, a murder in a monastery and a body in the Botanical Gardens.’

It features returning stars Ella Maisy Purvis as Patience Evans, Mark Benton as Calvin Baxter and Nathan Welsh as Jake Hunter. Joining the cast of favourites is Bafta award winning actor Jessica Hynes as DI Frankie Monroe – who will bring a different dynamic to the station and a new boss for Patience and the team.

Also in series two, we see the return of regular cast members Adrian Rawlins as Douglas Gilmore, Ali Ariaie as DC Will Akbari, Connor Curren as Billy Thompson, Liza Sadovy as Dr. Loretta Parsons and Tom Lewis as Elliot Scott.

The first series of Patience was an instant hit for Channel 4 and its biggest drama of the year – averaging 4.2 million and Channel 4’s most successful launch in four years.

Series two of Patience will air on Channel 4 in 2026 – with an exact release date yet to be announced. Catch up on the first series here.
