Hype Inducing 90s Brawler Toxic Crusaders Drops 4th December on PS5, PS4 1

We’re not personally familiar with the 90s show that’s inspired Toxic Crusaders, but we sure love a throwback retro beat-‘em-up.

This one looks like it’s stepped right out of the era of The Simpsons Arcade Game and TMNT: Turtles in Time, although while it’s reminiscent of those old coin-op classics, it’s clearly taking full advantage of modern hardware to make for a delightfully chaotic experience.

This one has been in development for a long time at developer Retroware, but it’ll finally drop on 4th December for $24.99. Expect wishlisting to open up imminently on the PS Store.

Here’s the official blurb:

“When the evil Dr. Killemoff attacks, only one team of hideously deformed creatures of superhuman size and strength stands between him and his plans for global pollution: the Toxic Crusaders, earth’s last, greatest and ugliest hope for survival! The hottest heroes of 1991 return for a radical, radioactive beat ’em up for a new era, featuring awesome action, crushing combos and more toxic waste than you’ll know what to do with!”

You’ll be able to choose from seven different playable characters, each with their own unique moves and power-ups. In addition, the title will support full four-player co-op.

This actually isn’t the first Toxic Crusaders game, as a spin-off of the original show launched on the NES, Game Boy, and SEGA Genesis in 1992.

Are you a fan of the original Toxic Crusaders cartoon at all? Will you be checking out this beat-‘em-up regardless? Leave your toxicity in the comments section below.
