Reporting from Liverpool Crown Court
This is a truly shocking turn of events.
Only yesterday, Doyle had entered not guilty pleas to charges that had been amended slightly due to medical evidence.
After months of denials, he is now guilty of 31 extremely serious offences.
Everyone in court was ready for Paul Greaney KC to deliver his opening note.
At the final moment, Mr Greaney was called out to speak to Simon Csoka KC, defending.
After about half an hour, the barristers returned to courtrom 4:1 and it became clear something had shifted.
Discussions are now ongoing about the sentencing date, which will be on a later date.
